“Forgiveness is about empowering yourself, rather than empowering the past.”

—T.D. Jakes

Welcome to my website. I hope there is something here that assists
you on your unique journey of forgiveness. My personal and professional journey of forgiveness began over 25 years ago when I first read that "Forgiveness is the key to happiness" (A Course in Miracles). That statement certainly got my attention and it propelled me on a quest to learn about and experience the transformative power of what I call the "Circle of Forgiveness": forgiving ourselves, forgiving others and seeking forgiveness/making amends.

Oh yeah, about me, John M. Smith, LCSW...I am Psychotherapist and Interfaith Minister who has worked in a variety of settings for the past 40 years. In addition to traditional therapeutic training, I have received certification in Reiki, Psychodrama, Thought Field Therapy, Laughter Yoga; to name a few. Gandhi reminds us that forgiveness is only for the strong. As a therapist I help you to connect to the courage, strength and determination within you to facilitate necessary healing, and support you on the path to a more fulfilling life.

In addition to my clinical work with individuals, couples and groups, I am also an experienced educator and workshop facilitator. Recent workshops available to you and your group include:

  • Forgiveness Practice is a Happiness Practice

  • Developing Your Daily Forgiveness Practice

  • Women Forgiving Men, Men Forgiving Women: The Path to Loving Partnership

  • Forgiveness Seminar designed specifically by your request

My personal forgiveness practice is a daily effort. I am available to assist you in developing a forgiveness practice that best works for you. As the Dalai Lama reminds us, "All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is Love, Compassion and
Forgiveness. The important thing is they should be part of our daily lives."
